The annual Laser Challenge will launch from Port Hunter Sailing Skiff Club at Stockton and race in the Honeysuckle basin on Sunday, 27 March. It’s open to Laser standard, radial and 4.7 rigs.
The Laser is one of the most popular dinghy classes in history, with more than 215,000 boats worldwide. It is an international class with sailors in 120 countries, and an Olympic class since 1996.
It was designed by Bruce Kirby in 1970 with an emphasis on simplicity and performance. They are strictly one-design, ensuring exceptionally close racing and demanding a high level of fitness – as well as being exceptionally affordable.
