The best way to learn the ropes if you’re a budding young sailor is to start early. And that means jumping aboard one of Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club’s dinghies during SailFest Newcastle.
Qualified instructors will be based on the waterfront side of the NCYC Clubhouse at Wickham from 10:00am-2:00pm on both Saturday March 22 & Sunday March 23.
They’ll be onboard, sailing with the children, showing how it’s done. And best of all, it’s absolutely free!
Suitable for children from 6 to 12 years and we cater for those who have never been sailing before.
Pre-booking a time isn’t required as we’ll have a numbering system running when you arrive on site. However, you can pre-register to save on paperwork when you get there – you can find the registration link below . . .
Launching is from our large floating pontoon and parents can watch from the harbour-front walkway.
The try-sailing sessions will be approximately 10-15 minutes on-water.
What to Wear
- Swimmers, boardshort & rash-shirt
- Enclosed shoes that can get wet (beach shoes or old sandshoes)
- Hat & sun-cream
- A lifejacket will be supplied
