Try Sailing

The best way to learn the ropes if you’re a budding young sailor is to start early. And that means jumping aboard one of Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club’s OziOpti dinghies, larger Pacer dinghy, or trying a Windsurfer during SailFest Newcastle.

Qualified instructors will be based at Throsby Basin, adjacent to Carrington Bridge and the Newcastle Rowing Club from 10.00am-2.00pm on both Saturday March 26 & Sunday March 27.

It’s absolutely free!

Pre-booking isn’t required as we’ll have a numbering system running when you arrive on site.  The try-sailing sessions will be approximately 15 minutes on-water.

The colourful OziOpti dinghies are suitable for children from 6 to 12 years of age and the children will either sail solo or 2-up.  The Pacer dinghy is a two-person, two-sail boat which can be tried on the Sunday.

You can also demo one of the new-generation Windsurfers
